I close my eyes

Distractions

Crowd my head like bustling subway passengers

Caught my wings on a snag

Gasping to break free

Utter chaos

Sending signals

All of this consuming, crowding

Did I mention I was claustrophobic?

Your voice muffled amidst the noise in my brain

And no one seems to notice

Sometimes, I don't notice

You're calling, screaming for me

A faint, distinct cry in the distance

In the dark

Promised insomnia

Retraining myself to breathe amidst this noise

Going under to come up dirty

You call me amidst the crowd

"Drown them out!"

They're drowning me

Trampled among the crash of their voices

... Slowly turn away

"I'm losing You..."
